ok, i want to get a shorter stick, so i've been lookin' at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2417070527

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2417220691

and

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2416573249

are they gonna be any good, i don't really wanna spend hundreds on a hurst, or B&M system, whereas these are cheap,

also is the first of the three better, due to the spacer, making the stick closer to the driver

i'd appreciate any imput

cheers

1st one says it's for a T56, don't know if it will work or not. The 2nd 2 just look like the shaft is shorter, which won't shorten the throw, just make the height of the shifter not as tall. I've got a B&M Ripper & I'm pretty happy with it.

Just keep in mind, you get what you pay for ;)

None of those will work.

Try to find a B&M Ripper if you can, thanks to Fin's recommendation I also got one and its a "Cant live without it" component

I think I am going to go with a Hurst short shifter, and use a "Lou's short stick", but I need to check with him on making me an even shorter stick since I have some custom work schemed out that none of you have seen yet. (pics when I'm done)

Anyway, I would say Hurst or B&M Ripper. Those are probably the two strongest.

All of those are just shorter handles that you bolt on to the stock shifter on a T56, unfortunately on our T5 this is not possible, because the shifter itself and the handle are one single peice from the factory. Therefore you need to replace the entire shifter to do anything. Either way a shorter handle doesent get rid of the rubbery inprecise feeling of the stock shifter. Look around for a used one if possible, only way youll see it cheaper, but it will never be a $30 mod like that stuff on ebay. I have a Pro 5.0, and I like it a lot, prolly one of my favorite mods. Anything is better than the stocker.

I second the B&M Ripper, the improvement over stock is dramatic. Easy d.i.y. install, I think it took me less then one hour. If there is a negative it's that you will hear a little more gear noise from the transmission transmitted into the vehicle in 1st. I really like my Ripper.

i have the B&M Ripper and it's great. Pro 5.0 has a shorter stick than B&M or Hurst. like hou-tex-six said, "Anything is better than the stocker."

There's the problem with that stick just making it sit lower.

It won't feel any better, just be lower.

And yes, technically, the throws will be a little shorter, since the stick is shorter. A shorter stick means shorter distance to the pivot points, which means shorter throws.

But, it'll still feel like the crap stocker.

Pro-5.0 is the way to go.
Cut it down a bit.
