  • Big Problem Anyone Please Help?????

Ok for some reason I went to go into town today so I started my car and it wouldnt go into reverse. I thought nothing of it so I let it roll down the drive and then when I went to put it in first it wouldn't do that either..The only way I can get it into gear is by shoving it really hard which make's this horrible sounding noise in the rear and the car kinda hops but not much...The only thing is 1st is the only gear i can get it in and when i press the clutch to shift the rpm's dont even go down its like i'm not even pressing on the clutch... after trying to put it into gear for about ten minutes it finally goes into gear and acts just fine......then i started it up again and it did the exact same thing.....Does anyone have any suggestions on what may cause this its a 3.4l with the T5 tranny any suggestions at all are highly appreciated so just let me know of anything.....thanks.....

It's not the clutch it's brand new over summer... like and when it acutally does work its doesnt slip or anything at all, could it be the cylinder thing that engages the clutch?

The rpms should not go down when you press in the clutch.

It does sound like the hydralics are not building pressure. If you just had the clutched changed, I would assume the slave cylinder was changed to. That leaves the clutch master cylinder or a leak somewhere.

I only replaced the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing and would a leak be tough to spot and also once i get it in gear and every and drive it for a few it drive's just like normal liek there's not a thing wrong?

ide say its either the slave or master cylinder, my explorer does the same thing because the slave is shot so it allows air into the system in turn locking up the whole system, both are easy to replace since they are external, the only thing you need is the special tool to disconnect the line from the master to the slave, good luck

it's the master cylinder, I'd put money on it, I would hope you changed the slave when you did the clutch.
Anyway cheap part from the parts store relatively easy to change but you will need the help of a second person to line up the U bolt that holds it in place and without a mighty vac you are looking at an hour or so of bleeding the system.
