Can someone tell me if the voltage regulators on our cards are internal to the alternator or external? If they are external where exactly? The haynes manual makes no mention of it and I couldn't find it as a replacement part at advance or autozone. It's a 2000. TIA

You can buy a Caspers Voltage Booster, mine ups the voltage 1.2 volts after 70% throttle it connects to the TPS and the ALT. , so I run around 13.3 and it goes to around 14.5, this is with a 10LB Dynabatt up front and a Optima Batt. in the rear.

The regulator is built into the alternator.

That would work however the problem I'm having is under deceleration when the tranny downshifts with the AC on. Below 30mph the guages just about bottom, almost to the point of stalling, with each downshift. Weird as it is the only thing I can narrow it down to would be voltage regualtor. Everything works fine at cruising speeds even with the ac on and works fine all the time with the AC off. The fun part is when it tries to stall in the middle of a turn, good times.

If your ALt. is fine you could try the big 3 wire mods putting a 4ga. from the alt. to the batt., like a 2ga. from the batt to block neg wiring, and a 4 or 2 ga from pos. side batt to the acessory box. Should help some if not your Alt. is screwed.
