I noticed a post about speaker covers rattling. The covers located in my door panels are having a similar problem, and I was wondering if they could be removed without removing the entire door panel. Regardless of the situation, could you please include some brief instructions for doing so; I'll probably be painting the covers while I have them off. Thanks in advance.

only the rear sail panels and hatch panels can be removed without harming anything on a firebird.
Camaro front door speaker panels can also be removed - but dont expect to gain a lot of speaker access that way.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

mine came out fine. it's only the monsoon where you have to take the door apart.

You can almost just pull the speaker covers off with just your bare hands. It's really pretty simple, but don't plan on doing much when you get them off.

The covers are a vinyl composite and are very flexible. (easily cut, though) You won't have myuch chance of damaging them by just pulling them out.
If they've never been taken out before, they might still be glued. In that case you'll just have to pull a little harder. The tabs that hold them in are at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock position.
getting them back in is almost as easy, just flex the grille in one direction and then push the opposite direction in. Squeeze the other two directions together and it will pop into place. I usually put the bottom in line, bend the grille to make the top slide in then use my hands to squeeze the sides into place. They will look a little warped for a couple of hours, but once the mateiral relaxes, it will look like brand new again.
BTW, as long as you've got them out, you should rip that fabirc out from behind the grille itself. (It's glued to the back) Just more stuff in the way of the higher frequencies!

I guess I'm the one guy out on this... but There's no way I was going to be able to get my grills off with out removing the door panels. (or breaking the grills). My grill tabs were actually MELTED to the door panels where the two met. That held them in place. That was done intentionally at the factory. IMO, you should take off the door panel anyway so you don't break something. Once you know exactly how the grills are mounted on there, you'll be able to see how to get them off for next time. Taking off the panels takes about 5 - 10 minutes. 30 if you get so frustrated that you have to swear a few times.
