i hooked up my system and it is ****in loud as hell, plus the gain on the amp is still half way down and i still havent installed the capacitor. im putting in the capacitor 2marro and i was wondering, can i use pwer wire for the ground wire on the cap?
BTW ill post pics soon :D
1997 Camaro
17x9 Chrome SS wheels, SLP CAI, Magnaflow Catback,
High Flow Cat, Blacked out Lights, 20% tint, AUDIO: 1600W Kenwood eXcelon Amp, 12\" Kicker L7, 1 Farad Cap (Recently STOLEN),
H&R Springs and KYB AGX\'s,
Billet Grille
The gain is not a volume control is simply a knob to match up the signal from the HU to the amp, i bet if you turn it up past a certain point it will go into progtect BC the signal will start to clip. BTW if your running a large system like 1k W+ the cap will hurt probrably hurt you more than it will help you.
Only reason i have a 1.5 F cap on mine is because it was given to me and i like the voltage read out on it.

Hes not. I'm curious to hear your resoning behind this statement though.
Fab, congrats on the system, you can use power wire to ground it. It's the same wire just different color. Ill see if I can dig up an install guide for your cap. You will need a lightbulb to wire it unless you just wanna hook it up and enjoy a fireworks show. :D

Well think about this when your running a large system the amps really take a toll on your battery and their constantly demanding power from the battery. The way a cap works is it stores power right? And so when you hit a bass note it drowns the power out of it so the cap is just another big load on your battery/alt. Once the power is gone out of the cap your alt has to recharge the cap while still maintaining power to the rest of the car as well as to the amps(s).

While your car is running electrical components do not run off your battery they run off your alternator. Capacitors regulate or filter voltage, therefore if your voltage drops then the cap dips into its reserve to compensate for this loss in voltage. (happens during hard bass hits) The alternator then recharges the cap while there is less of a load on the electrical system. (in between hard bass hits) Capacitors can recharge very quickly also.
