so i started to build a custom box for my car. its pretty hard to do. the trunk has so many things sticking out of it because of the bolts for the tail lights and stuff. i used like waferboard or something. it was like 10$ for a 4x8 sheet of it. i'm not sure on what cubic ft. i'll be getting out of it, but i'm sure it'll be a ton better than the box i have right now. the one i have now is like maybe a half a cube. this one should be around 1.5, maybe more. i'm finishing it on wednsday and tell ya how it sounds and what not.

never finished it :( . its a lot harder than you might think. our trunk has to many contortions in it. the main thing that held me back was that i got the wrong kind of wood. i should of gotten md4, but i had gotten particle board. i might finish it up sometime soon. i will tell ya how it sounds though.\'96 Quasar Blue Firebird A4
jamiethekiller@comcast.net
my band: woodland

Bummers... are you trying to make some kind of stealth box, or just an all-out trunk-sized box?
You have 3 options:
1.You could make one to go on the top hatch, behind the back seat.
2.The top of the trunk hatch, saving the bottom for your amp(s).
3.The left side of the hatch(stealth).

If you are really talented you can line the trunk w/ trash bags and really get in all the contours, then use that spray in wall insolator stuff. Once it dries you can cut out peices and you have a nice inverse mold that you can lay fiberglass around. Once the fiber dries you now have a perfect contoured box once you clean it up a bit. Wood sucks, but you can also use the inverse mold to help visualize and build around it better than having to peice it together in the trunk. Just some ideas from my experience.

If you would like some plans on how to build a box like the ones on my page, contact me. I will customize my plans to fit your subs and send them to you. Complete with all the cuts, mitres, and part sizes, even assembly instructions. You won't even have to open the hatch on your car until you get the thing built. It will drop in and fit like a glove. Let me know, but I don't give out my plans for free. 4th gen F-bods only.
