  • burned up some wires under my console

ok, so i put leds in my interior lights. i put one in the console light that lights up the gear selector. the leads were touching and it fried that wire that the bulb socket is connected to. i can seem to find this part anywhere on the internet. does anybody know where you can get this????

bare wires are not a good thing to have.

no, bare wires are a result of this.
and everybody knows bare wires are bad.
as far as elec. tape, i dont want to be ghetto rigged with something like my electrical system.

i got one from the dealer today, now its either pay 150 bucks to have it put in professionally or try to do it myself....

well you should probably pay someone to do it, since you didnt do it correctly last time.

or it may turn out to be the same story again.

im not payin somebody to put the led bulb in, which is what caused the problem

                ok...
why did your harness burn up?
cuz something was not done properly when you installed the led ? or did you install the led after the original bulb did that to the wire.?

Well... There are a few things that you can do other then changing out the entire wiring harness. As an electrician, I can tell you about a few little tricks that may help. First check to see if the wire is touching anything Even your chaise will cause you to have a short. If all you did was just fry off the coating on the wire and the wire itself isn’t damaged then you can get some shrink tube and just put it over the wire. If the wire is melted then I would suggest if you can get to it try to solder a new wire on the connection. If you can’t get to it, you might want to check at your local junk yard to see if they have the wiring harness that you need. Or check eBay you never know what they might have.
