  • T-tops & 2 12's?

Ok whenever I go to talk to the guys at the audio store about subs the first thing they ask about firebirds is, t-tops? I have t-tops but I've heard my friends JL 10" and while it was a pretty good sub I was wondering if there was a way to get 2 12's and still be able to take off the t-tops. Has anyone ever done this?

Also, I'm in the market for a new head unit but I think I've fallen behind on whos whos in the industry. Any awesome moderately priced units out there? By the way I replaced my speakers with a the Infinity 6.5's and they're 10x better than stock. Would those improve at all with a new head unit?

You like those Infinities huh? Which ones exactly did you put in? The 63.3i's? I've been looking into it some myself.

You're speakers will sound MUCH better with a new HU. Eclipse is one of the best brands around, but they cost a bit more than your average unit. Mine cost me $450 + tax for one of their higher-end units units. Kenwood seems to be a favorite around here, Pioneer is alright I've had two of their HU's stolen from me before.

As for the box, just ask a guy around here named megabass about that. He's making me an amp rack right now, and he's done a lot work in the F-body community too. He has a pretty popuar design that will flip up when the T-top's are stored, but folds down flat when they are in use. I'm not sure about 2 12's, but he can do 2 10's for sure. I've seen pics of it. Besides, I've always prefered 10's because they just seem more accurate and sound better to me!!

xjarayax -- I think I have the refernce (cheap ones) but still much better than my old worn out ac delcos plus if you look on ebay you can get em for about half the price of car toys. The install is pretty straightfoward as well
