I had something similar, one day it just stopped working etc etc. Did a lot of stuff and nothing worked.
Turned out to be a ground wire. From inside the drivers fender where the CC unit is you will see a single wire coming from the unit and terminating on a ring style terminal. This is bolted to the frame rail. mine was attached by a single strand. Re-terminated and no more problem. :banana:

Fixed mine over the weekend. I pulled the little square black plastic cover off of the side of steering column behind the switch. Found a broken pink wire going into the multifunction switch. I temporarily used a wire tap to to see if that was the problem (though it seemed obvious) and sure enough, problem solved. Now I just need to find out why it's hard to switch high/low beams.
