  • need help bridging channels

so i'm switching over from the Sony Xplods to a JL audio 10" sub. i'm using the same two channel amp for the JL, but its only one sub so it needs only one channel. i know i need to bridge the two channels into one then hook everything up normally. my question is...how? haha. i know kind of where to start but i don't know the process and steps i need to complete to do this right. do i need to go all the way back to the headunit with this or is this just something i need to handle with the amp? any help is greatly appreciated!

This is amp related, and is very simple. Take the + from one channel (usually the left IIRC), and the - from the other channel, and use them to power the subs. Leave the other + and - along. Although, I'm not too sure if you can do this with every amp.

Yea, not all amps are bridgeable... Plus, are you sure if you bridge it, its a wattage and impedance that matches up with your new sub?
