oil pressure gauge dops to 0 when im braking

    the needle will drop to 0 then instantly go back up once at a complete stop and only when i press the brakes. Oil level is fine. please help i am scared to drive my car.

    It sounds to me like an electrical issue or a problem with the sensor. Have you checked the alternator voltage when this happens? Our cars (3.8's - I don't know about 3.4's) sometimes have a power dip when you hit the brakes. Mine does it once in a while. However, it does not make the oil pressure gauge drop. Rather, the lights dim for a second then come back up, especially if there is a lot of load on the electrical system.

    The way you will know for sure what's up with the oil system is to hook up a mechanical gauge and watch it while you drive. If it works normally then it's probably a bad sensor. That would be the first easy and cheap thing to fix. Next would be to try and locate an intermittent short in the circuit leading to the gauge.

      change the sensor its like 20$ and pretty easy to replace. it's located just above the oil filter

        Your dip stick is probably off. You are probably low of oil.
