I tried unscrewing my antenna off to put a universal car cover on it. I wrapped a towel around it and then took a pair of pliers to try and unscrew it...The antenna never moved, and the paint still came off of it. I was afraid to try again before I knew for sure it did screw off. My antenna does screw off right?

It should. I have a '98. It starts to come loose on its own after a while. I can tell because you can hear it vibrate/rattle in its socket if you bump it. Every once in a while I have to tighten it back up.
The part that turns should be the part with the flats on it, at the bottom of the antenna shaft.\'98 A4 Camaro v6->v8 conversion, and STS kit next
v6: 13.6 Powerdyne, 13.2 150 shot, 13.8 120 shot, 14.3 85 shot, 15.7 stock
v8(na): 12.18@113, 392rwhp
Moderator on www.mtfba.org and www.frrax.com (Road Race & Autocross)
Car pics, TN Region SCCA

I had to cut mine out :( The antenna had rusted/bonded/siezed to the mount. I had to cut it off at the base of the antenna so I could pull the bottom of the mount from the inside of the car. Now I have a fake power antenna looking thing rigged up. Radio works fine so I will leave it for now.Fake Antenna

Hehe, yea I was saying that "lefy loosey,..." phrase the whole time I was trying. Never budged.
Backfire, I love the creativity with that "power antenna" look . I guess Im gonna try again tommorow when it's light out, I'm really thinking about getting a power antenna now (a real one :D ), but gotta see how cheap I can get one for. I would do that but this car cover says its for cars 12'-14', and my car is about 16.5' so I just wanted to see if it would still fit ok b/c I'm not too worried about the lower part of the car being covered. But if I didn't like the way it fit, I didn't want to mess up the cover.1998 Arctic White Camaro
3.8L V6 M5
Flowmaster 80 Series with 3\" tips
Whisper Lid w/ K&N
Flowtech Cutout
Free-Ram Air Mod
Blue Underbody Neon Kit
3 MTX 6000 10\" Subs
Rockford 800a2 Amp
My Camaro

Well, the last time I had removed the antenna was probably 5 years ago. I guess that lead to it locking up. I was trying to remove it because the mounting feet underneath were putting a crease in the body panel. I even resorted to holding the lower part with Vice-grips and a closed end wrench on top with no luck :( Thats when I busted out the Dremel!!

I broke mine off my '94 a couple of years ago. It, too, was rusted onto the mount, and my dad & myself found this out the hard way when the antenna broke at the bottom :(2001 Onyx Black Camaro M5-Totalled
2005 Ford F150 XLT 5.4L

\"To make peace, prepare for war.\"

First, I don't know why he wants to take the antenna out?
By the way, does any one get whistling noise from your antenna? When I go faster than 80, I get that wind noise, and not sure if it's the antenna or the door.Sunny Cali, T-top is the way to go! \'96 V6 3.8.
