  • Blower motor going bad?

Within the past few days I have noticed that the air coming from my vents is not as stong as it once was. The air also blows faster the more I accelerate. While sitting at idle, the air will slow down and speed up and I can hear a faint whining/grinding noise coming from behind the dash. This happens with the blower, a/c or heat on.

I recently had the lower intake gasket replaced. I'm not sure what petty components they removed in order to get to it, but I'm wondering if something might have been hooked up incorrectly and is causing this problem, or is it something completely unrelated?

Thanks in advance for any help.

that sounds more like an alternator/charging problem than a blower motor problem

check and clean all of your battery/alternator connections, and i bet it will fix the problem

I had a problem similar to yours, it happened twice; once as the battery connection once was my alternator going....

So the cause of the problem could be the alternator, even if the car holds a good charge and starts every time without hesitation? I'm not sure how old the battery is, but the terminals and connections are all good.

I doubt yours is your alternator. Mine would start fine but my battery charge would lower and power would lower as I was driving. It would kick back in randomly, I replaced the alternator and it was fine after that.

I can replace an alternator myself if it happened to be the cause, how much money am I looking at spending?

If the battery goes I'll just get a new Delco. I'm driving the car right now until I settle on a new daily driver, so it must not die on me or I'm shhheeat outta luck.

I also want to add that my turn signals are a little slower than normal.

I hope someone else chimes in; I'm not great with electrical stuff.

Do you have a multimeter to check if your battery is charging? It sounds as if something is pulling juice away from the other accessories.

My dad has one, I will see him tomorrow and borrow it. I don't have any accessories that would drain the battery other than a cell charger.

By accessories I meant blower motor and blinkers, I just meant that it seems as though juice is being drawn away from those systems.

That's a flasher. Its up under the dash, little silver round thing with three prongs. Turn on a blinked and its pretty easy to find. And they're like $4.

If I'm thinking right, my new alt was 170.. but that was a year ago, so I might be wrong.

                        Re: Blower motor going bad?

Not bad on the price, thanks for the information.

I located the flasher, I'll attempt replacing it. Speaking of turn signals, are they normally slower on our cars or should they be rapid?

If find myself keeping track of the signal clicks compared to other vehicles around me a traffic lights, mine are at least half the speed of other vehicles.

Yes, I find mine are slow in comparison to other cars.

Mine were... now they're not. Mine was bad enough it used to fade, not even blink.

I'd be looking at loose grounds in that situation.
