There's no drag strip nearby which operates regularly but when we get to Pt 6, I'll install my Vericom VC3000 test system and run some 1/4-mile passes.

"Warshrike" guessed mid-13s at 100 and that's probably pretty close.

I have been getting that coolant code since my 180 thermo and Spectra V8 rad install.

I tried bleeding the air, packing coolant, changing the temp sender and nothing worked.

I carry my OBD2 code reader to reset it on the fly.

                Now I know why.
Your comment about DTC P0128 convinced me to add some material to Pt 5 of the series about coolant temperature and how that can affect the car's passing state exhaust emissions tests. Not all states have them and the tests in the States that do vary, but if your state tests emissions and the test includes connecting the "smog testing machine" to the car's DLC, know that if you run a lower temp thermostat, ie: 160 or 180, you have an aftermarket radiator and you clear codes before testing, some of the OBD2 readiness flags may not set. Some emissions tests require them to be set before the car passes.

If you have a problem where the car passes a "visual inspection" and passes the tail pipe test but flunks because the readiness flags aren't set, it could be low ECT causes that.

New material we added to the Pt5 article explains how to fix that.
