  • Need diagnosis on my start- up problem

My car has always taken a little while to start up, today I had my spark plugs and wires changed hoping that it will end my start up problem. My car is running a lot better now but Im still having problems on start up. My Dad says its either the fuel pump or the starter, what do you think???

Whats it doing, we are talking about two totally diffrent items here....if its the starter, is it not turning over? If its the fuel pump, is it just turning over and over and not craking. Get a fuel pressure gauge and see whats going on. Maybe remover you injectors and clean/replace them.

Well, When I push in the clutch and turn the key it will crank for a few seconds then start. How can I test the fuel filter?

if it cranks fine, it isnt the starter, and if it acually starts, it isnt the fuel pump.

you dont test the fuel filter, its only a few dollars and really should be replaced every year....SO REPLACE IT...when you take it out, put your mouth on it and blow in the direction of gas flow...it sould be easy as can be, if not, you know it was clogging.....while your at it, do the coil packs to. ;)

3 sometimes more...ill make a sound clip one of these days. My car is weird, sometimes it starts right up and sometimes it takes a few seconds. Once I drive around a little, shut the car off, and turn it back on it will start right up. I really dont know

i wouldnt worry about it, its an older car. Just change that fuel filter, they are like 8 dollars and only take a few mins to change. The coil pasks are about 50 dollars a pop, and if they look old, id replace them too.

                        thats normal for any car.

i wouldnt worry about it, and if your coil packs were bad, in about 99.9% of the cases you would be getting misfires.

FRAM? To me, Fram means: Wal-Mart brand/quality.
I've heard: "its a great filter".
But I've also heard that its a paper filter...

it is a paper filter, exactly like the one you have in your car, and everybody in america has in their cars.
