  • car really hard to turn

yesterday as i was turning right into a parking lot my car became extremely hard to turn. It has done this a couple times now, and its only when i'm braking. when i accelerate, it is normal. its not just like this on right turns, its left too. anyone know what the problem is? oh, btw, i checked my power steering fluid, its not too low or too high.

Check your steering knuckle...make sure its not hitting anything....I know mine does now that I got my headers installed....it rubs slightly at random times when I turn.

Power steering pump is dying/dead. Mine did the same thing. It's not that hard or expensive of a fix.

Yeah, I'd say your power steering went or is going down the crapper.

Mine is there now, but I've just been puting up with it, seems like if I have the rpms up some it helps to make the turning easier. I believe I was quoted $100 for a remanufactured pump from GM, but thats been awhile ago, not sure if its right.

BTW does anyone know if a bad pump can be really hard for the motor to turn, thus robbing power?
