  • overheating!!! help!

my 94 camaro keeps heating up really really fast or so the gauge reads...today i was driving it and the gauge just shot up to red line after a little bit and the check engine light came on. is this the thermostat or what? its been acting really weird lately cause i been getting a low reading like at the bottom marker almost all the time...then cold weather hit and its been jumping all over the place and my heater stopped working and kinda crap. put some new coolant and antifreeze in it but thats not the problem because it was already full and all good so the engine just pushed the new back out. anyone know what i need to do? i'm going to get it checked on friday but i wantede some other info.

also...if it the thermostat and i have to replace it, would there be any benifit to getting a 160 degree thermostat and not a stock 180 degree? just checking on that.

      Are the fans working?

Try adding some cooling additives such as Waterwetter or 40 Below.
