  • 160 Thermo in 2001 Car

Is anyone here running a 160 thermostat in their 2001 Camaro/Firebird successfully? I know the 2000 doesn't have a problem with the thermo - but I'm not sure about the 2001.

    Thansk guys! :D

I forget who posted the thing about lowering the thermo did no good because the fan did not kick in till a later temp anyway so if you dropped in a 160* you would just be running hot water through you engine which made it hotter then just having the stock thermo in. I think it was 12sec who said this but I don't know for sure.

I have one in. At first the SES light came on, but once the PCM learned what was happening it went off and hasn't came on since.

I am fully aware of how a thermostat works - see my posts of the past.

I am not asking about that - I am wondering if anyone is running a 160 in their "2001" model.

I ran one, it worked for about 50 miles then it seemed like the computer freaked out and ran the fans constantly and disabled the gauge. All I had to do was reset the computer everytime it screwed up. I tossed it and got myself a 180* the stock is 195 I thought.?
