  • how to make auto lights not auto

my 97 maro turns on nighttime lights when it's dark. that's cool and i like it. BUT sometimes i get that feeling like i don't want my lights on like when i'm at a house trying to leave and not wake people up or pulling into a driveway not trying to wake up or trying desperately to run away from a cop lol. i was just wondering if anyone knows the wire that does this so i can tap into it...i want the lights to be in the "always on position" (even though they only come on when it's dark) unless i turn a switch off. thx.

I know. when I bought my car I replaced the stereo and noticed a wire harness not connected plugged it in and presto auto lights. If I remember correctly when you pull your radio out to the back right a couple of inches you will see two yellow wire harness with wires and stuff. I believe it was the one on the right but im not 100% but I do know it was one of those two.

I'm told there's a solar cell under the dash (in the center where the vents are). Simply unplug the wires from the cell, & plug the wires back together (minus the solar cell). This will allow for total manual control of the headlights.

I know on daytime running lights that if you pull the e brake to just one click then it will turn them off. Not sure if this works with the auto lights but its worth a try.

Read down on that page aboput putting the e-brake on the first click....not good. I did it, very easy! take off the passenger a-pillar that goes from dash to t-top ot whatever....once it's off, you can easily pry up a portion of the dash. in the vent where the defrost is, there is a little lihgt snsor and harness. Unplug the harness...get some regular every day speaker wire, and plug each end of the speaker wire into the harness that goes back to the car. wire needs maybe 3 inches is all, an this just completes the little circuit right there, and now the car thinks it is always light outside. Total time to do this mod my first time on my car, 10 minutes. Next time, under 5 minutes! Use a little electrical tape also to make sure your wire stays plugged into the harness. And viola, no more auto lights. E-mail me if you need any more help, or maybe I can draw a diagram, it's pretty simple though.
