  • Camaro (97 3.8 5spd) bogging badly.

So it was having a hard time going stalling and sputtering and then i changed the fuel filter last night and for the night it was driving great only bogged a tiny tiny bit but I gained like 30hp

This morning it would barely turn over, it tok 20 mins for me to get her going and driving it was ok bogged some more then the night before.

Afternoon driving home I was sputtering relaly badly didn't matter how much gas, after i get up ot 4k it eased off alot and then it was ok, seemed to get a tiny bit better after 20 mins of driving. but not much.

What could it be? I'm at a loss.

You gained 30hp with a fuel filter? How clogged was the old one?

Very very very bad, the gas that came out of the filter when I was changing it was dark brown.

Leaks on the weld of the muffler from the pipe between the cat and the muffler itself.

        Leaking on rear end housing.

1st and 2nd gear lag all the way at WOT and with everything else.

        3rd gear is really powerful

        4th is so so.

having a super hard time starting if it sits for a while.

check your spark plugs, and wires, coils.

sounds like a fuel delivery problem

hard to start after it sits because the line loses pressure, then it takes awhile to build the pressure back up in the line

if your fuel filter was that bad, then I have no doubt your fuel pump is in pretty bad shape... im betting the screen sock that acts as a filter for the pump is completely gone by now too

not to mention your injectors are probably clogged to all hell now

replace all of your ignition stuff first

if that doesn't solve the problem move on to the fuel system

start by following your line from end to end and making sure all is in good order, fixing any trouble spots you find

after that, consider a fuel pump (it wouldn't hurt to drop your tank if you were getting that much dirt either, i would SERIOUSLY consider it)

then if you have no change, send your injectors in to cruisin performance to have them cleaned and flow matched, or just get new ones

Gas Backpressure P1441 i think. And I'm having the fuel pump installed, 700$. :(
