I went to go test drive the 91 firebird today, and I had a blast, but the whole rocker panel on the left side was completely rusted through... opinons on the risk of this... like I dunno even where I would put the jack to lift this thing up...
Well, imagine this; If you were driving it one day and you hit a bump, not knowing that the subframe had critical rust too and it decided to crack and split at about 50mph. If you are afraid to jack it up in that certain section of the subframe, then I'd think I'd pass that deal up. That is gonna have to be a complete frame-off restoration if you want to do it right. There really is no safe & ghetto way around it.
The rocker panel really isn't the section you should be too concerned about, look under the car where the subframe is and check to see if that has any rust damage. The subframe is what holds the car together, and if it's heavily rusted or bent, you'll be looking at major problems down the road.
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
