  • wtf happened to my car???

ok. so today on my way back to Edwards, heading downhill at about 70 MPH..i give my car some gas..and nothing! im like wtf?? so i pull over and right when i get to the emergency lane, my power steering goes out and my car dies..check gauges light came on. Try to start it again and nothing.. i had 3/4 tank of gas and everything seemed normal. The car has less than 25,000 on the odometer..Chevrolet towed my car to their shop and are working on it.. anyone know what might have caused this to happen? my friends told me my alternator might have died because i have an amp and subs..any other ideas?

You might wanna check that the main belt didn't break. I think they call it the serpentine belt but I'm not too sure. This is what runs your power steering and might be why it doesnt wanna start. I had to change out mine at approx 30,000 miles. This could be the reason your check gauges light came on since that belt helps to run everything. Hope this helps.

This has happened to me a few times when I blow ignition coils. I would almost be ready to put money on an ignition coil failure.

Do you generally run your gas tank pretty low? That's usually a cause of premature pump failure. The pump is cooled by the gas, when there is no gas it just burns out.
