Ok guys I've determined a lot of things in trying to diagnose my misfire. A run down on the problem again is as follows.
My car is misfiring on random cylinders mostly from 1500-2500 rpms under load. It perfroms well at lower speeds and if it is in higher rpms like around 3000. There is a small amount of misfire if I rev it up completely but barely any.
Now, this is what i'm figured out.
1. I don't think it's a fuel related problem (pump, filter, injectors) there seems to be no loss of fuel and it doesn't have a hard start of seem to be running lean.
2. It can't be just a plug or a wire because it is misfiring on random cylinders. I'm pulling the code P0300 (Engine Misfire Detected).
3. I replaced all 3 coil packs and still nothing.
Now, i have a few theorys...
I think it has to be the crank shaft position sensor or the ICM. Those are the 2 components that control the coil packs. But the crank shaft seems like a hard install to just throw a part at it and see if it works. I can test the ICM. But I'm wondering what you guys think about the situation.
Thanks, Ted
