i tried a silicone sealant and it didn't do ****...i had to replace the little black gasket and now it seals fine...you may want to take the whole thing out and heat around the opening w/ a heat gun and pull the edges up a little to make sure there's a good seal. BTW...are these aftermarket or stock housings, also, are u using regular bulbs, or the blue ones (hyper white)..like APC or something?

you might try putting a little silicone dielectric grease in the socket before installing the bulb. this will keep the water out of the socket.

generally speaking, this is a good idea for any electrical connection on the car (with the exception of the battery/alternator charging wire).

i kept burning up lights, but it wasn't the seal it was the flasher unit going bad. u may won't to get a new one, it's only like 2 bucks from autozone.
