  • Security Light

This morning when I left for work I noticed that my Security light was on. I was almost at work (I only live 2 miles away) when I first saw it was on. When I got there I parked my car then turned off the engine. I then turned it back on and the light was off. What's that mean? Should I check anything?

usually, when that comes on, it means that the wires coming out of your ignition cylinder are breaking or are broken. i would guess if it came on then went off, that they are breaking because they are probably breaking connection every once in a while. if this is your problem, when they finally go, you will not be able to start your car unless you rig it like most (including me) or take it in to get fixed. this is a very common problem because those wires are weak

Another possible alternative problem is that your key is dirty or wet.

There is a tiny resistor on the ignition key. Sometimes if it get pocket lint in it or gets wet, it will throw a security light.

If it is worn looking, swap you car keys for you spare keys.
