Prowled around on the boards for a while...but nothing sounds exactly like my problem. I have a 97 A4 with around 68,000 miles. I recently have replaced all tune-up parts with the exception of new coils and o2 sensors. I sit at idle with the trans. in drive and around every 30 seconds, I get a very quick shake, stutter from the motor...It just started and I have had no previous problems of this kind. My idle is around 900 rpm and then my motor stutters for a half-second around 800 rpm and then goes back up. I haven't really noticed this problem under acceleration yet. Please help...

I'd have the IAC (idle air control) and TPS (throttle position sensor) checked. If you have done all of the tuneup work, then the problem most likely lurks somewhere in a sensor.
If I remember correctly, my car didn't throw a code when the IAC went bad. The idle was just going nuts!

clean the throttle body and check the sensors like he said.
