  • 1998 3.8 thermostat temp

Ok did a search & nada, this forums technical data states the '98s had a 195*, but my owners manual say 180* thermo.Replaced mine a couple years ago with a 195,seemed to run a little hot so I put in a 180*.Now it seems a little too cool in the crisp fall weather we're having.Don't have the original,& can't remember what was stamped on it!Is there someone out there with a 98 Fbody who knows for sure what the original thermo was stamped, 195* or 180*?Q2 anyone put in a Stant Superstat?Thats the 195 I used,is another brand better?

          2. NO FLUFF POSTS. Again, let's save bandwidth here. Try to keep your posts on topic. No simple "lol" or anything related like that. There is no need for that garbage. And if you just have this compulsion to type in "do a search", you can AT LEAST link some threads that might help them. Or, just offer some advice. I try to post advice before locking, please do the same.

          3. No "TTT" ("To The Top") posts with nothing else in them. If you have a problem, first search. If nothing, then post. Now here's the time for YOU to actually take on some independent thought. If its been more than say 12 hours, its okay to post again, but in those 12 hours I am SURE you may have some possible solutions. Post them! Your ideas MAY BE the solution! If all you can do is type to post for help, and then TTT it when 'no one wants to help', quite frankly if you're too lazy to think on your own, I shouldn't have to think for you.

All V6's including 1999-2002? The technical database says 1999-2002 has a 180* thermo. Is that incorrect?

              The database is inaccurate. Having owned a 2000 V6, I had a 195* thermostat.

Exactly, both my 2000 and my 2002 had 195 Thermostats.

As was already said, the tech database is wrong. They all come with 195° thermostats, including the 98.

Perhaps the tech database should be corrected as well so people aren't misled. I have thought for a while my 99 had a 180* because of that info.
