Got the car back from the stealership today, they pressure tested it and told me the lower intake manifold gasket is leaking. This doesn't look like too bad a job from the looks of the Haynes manual I've got here, but I'd really like to hear from someone who's had experience doing this gasket. How bad is it, really? How long do you think it would take? What kinds of tools would I need, anthing wierd? Also, are there any tricks to making it easier?
it's still a b!tch to do, you may as well do both the upper and lower intake manifold gasket as they are sold together anyhow. if this is your first time doing it, look at spending about 6hours to do it if not more if you are not mechanically inclined, at which point i would suggest not attempting it because it involves torquing at specific points. as well, there is a plastic strip that has to be placed in and aligned when you put the manifold back on, if you do not get it lined up properly and torque everything down into place, you will split/crack/or break the gasket and will have to start over again...

its nothing for me now, gotta love air tools!
where do they sell the upper & lower in sets?
That might be a little extra expensive cause they give you parts not needed?
and I dont know anything about a strip never had to do that before.
you'll probably want a torque wrench .
you'll want a 1/4" mini ratchet & socket set and extra adapters. (for getting behind the upper intake manifold).
probably want a razor blade for scraping gasket and debris.
