  • removing door panels? window problem

Hey I was just wondering if theres a proper way to remove the door panels. I have a 94 Firebird and the wondow doesnt seem to wanna stay on track. as it goes up I have to guide it with my hand or it wants to lean inwards towards the car. any help??

To take off the door you have to take off the little plastic piece by your side mirror, remove the power window controls and unplug them, undo the little lock tab from the metal bar then remove the remaining screws in the door panel (I don't remember an exact number, but I want to say 3. Bottom of the door in the map pocket, in the handle, and in the power lock hole). After all that slide the door panel up and it will come loose (you don't need to pull out). Putting the panel back on is a pain so take your time and make sure all the hooks line up correctly.

Can't help with your window track problem. Good luck!

There are three adjustments for the window track. If the window is leaning towards the interior of the car, look at the bottom of the window track. There is an adjustment with 2 10mm bolts that will affect how the window leans when it's going up or down.

Also, check the window guides located at the top of the door. There are 2 of them and they also guide the window when it's moving.

wondering if i wanna tackle my problem. My window goes up too high if the door is open and will actually stick out if i close the door. I have to shut the door using my hand on the window instead of door. But i dread putting that door panel back on. its got the plastic pieces that hold in in right? the ones that pop in and out.

No, the door panels are held on by downward facing hooks. They are just a pain to get back in their holes on the first try.

good, i know that some doors have the plastic or rubber plug like things that seem to fall out and never hold on. thanks for the info.

thanks for the help guys. the matel frame that holds the window was popped out of the rubber roller that goes inside the track. The rubber roller was all stripped so it wouldnt stay in and the dealer told me you cant buy that roller by itself!? ....so I did a macgyver and used the metal wire from a spiral notebook to hold that roller onto the metal frame so it would stay in track...thanks again
