  • Starter issue? wouldn't start and killed power

Ok today I went to start my car in the morning and turn it to acc power and worked just fine, radio lights everything had power and working normally. Go to turn it over and I hear a thud, probably the subwoofers in the back, and nothing dead. Completely dead, no more power, lights, radio, horn, windows, power door locks all dead without power. At this point I was wondering wtf pop the hood pull out a multimeter and measure the voltage on the battery and it is around 4.5 volts, sound be 12, I am pretty confident it is not the battery I bought it October last year it is an interstate with 75 month warranty and was not cheap. So after going inside to get the receipt i come back out and the inside lights are on, the driver door is open, so i measure the voltage, at the battery like i did last time, and it is now 12 volts. I try and start the car and I hear clicking, hence i think it might be the starter somehow, and it turns over in 3 seconds while clicking. Turn it off and start it again and it fires right up. I have started it multiple times and starts fine no click. Any ideas, just replace the starter motor or solenoid? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds to me like ur alternator mite have gone bad. Mine went out on me a few months ago and my volts were down to about that area.

Your car mite have died cause the battery couldnt supply enough power to the whole system you have. The sub gives a thump when it has an impulse of power, probably the last bit of power the battery delivered to the sub. you may wanna ask the guys in the electronics forum.

Mine keeps doing it to. I keep messing with the battery cable and it would crank after messing with it for a minute. Thinking of changing the battery.
