    95 Firebird, 3.4
Brought the car to Guam 2 years ago. Last year, for reasons unknown, the car would not start. I had the dealer check it out. They replaced the PCM and one fuel injector that was leaking and causing the starting problem. A couple months ago I was running low on gas( a little les than 1/4 )and as I turned the corner the car just quit running. I got it started and limped into a gas station and filled it up. Car would start and idle okay but would not move when I let off the clutch. I towed it home, changed the fuel filter, new plugs, 3 new coil packs, hollowed out the cat. After many attempts I finally got it started. It runs pretty good once it starts but it takes about 5 min. to get it started. I checked the pressure on the fuel rail and somtimes it squirts out pretty good and other times it just flows out. Now when I drive I get an SES light and the car runs crappy. I shut the car off and the light goes away for a few minutes and comes back on.After extended driving the car acts like it flooded when I start it. If I let it sit for a couple hours it starts like normal. Question, could this be the fuel pump? If so, why does it run good after I finally get it started. Wouldn't a bad fuel pump make it run bad all the time? Any info would help. Its hard getting parts out here. I need to order most parts online.
    Thanks

From what I've heard, a fuel pump will behave very strangely when it's going out. It's probably a good idea to eliminate the possibility of the fuel pump being your problem. And they're pretty cheap. You can get a remanufactured OEM one for $50 on ebay, or a nice Granatelli 255LPH for $50
    Good luck pinpointing your problem.

Will a weak fuel pump screw up the fuel injectors?

I'm not 100% knowledgeable on that, but I would think not. A weak fuel pump would cause your engine to run lean at times though and that is not good. But if it's the fuel pump that's acting up, it will eventually die on you and leave you stranded somewhere. Getting a fuel pressure gauge would be a good idea, then you can check the line pressure. I think it's supposed to be 48psi.

The fuels pressure gauge would be a good idea, then you can drive around with it for a while and see how the pump behaves, before you start replacing things that may not need replacing.
