I'm starting to think this SuperTech Moly-Lithium grease is crap. I think it was eating my valvetrain components. Now I'm thinking it turned my oil grey. But it definately is dark grey.

oil turns grey when you mix it with water! there is coolant leaking into your oil. maby

You put grease in your motor?

of course I put Moly-Lithium grease in my engine. The Haynes says to put moly-base grease or clean engine oil on the lower end of the pushrods.

i definately dont think its the best idea... i would rather just use engine oil, but engine oil is so viscous and will just slide/drip right off leaving the pushrods un-lub'ed.
next time i wont use it then

it will change the color , your only suppossed to break the engine in with this stuff not go 3000 miles with it .

              Re: eng Oil Grey

Anytime you change pushrods you pre-lube the tips of the pushrods with grease having a molylibdenum component or, better yet, an engine assembly lube such as Red Line Oil sells.

The small amount you use should not color the engine oil to any great amount but the coloring it does add will be gray.

You should not add moly compounds to the oil as an "oil additive".

Also, after replacing the pushrods and using moly, you should change your oil filter within 250-500 miles as many oil filters will trap moly.

Lastly, moly will not "eat" valvetrain components.

maybe coolant can eat valvetrain components like rocker arms?
My rocker arms are pretty eaten after I did my head gasket swap (still had bad Rings). The only thing I put in it was synthetic oil (SuperTech) and moly-lithium grease (not as an additive, as a pushrod lubricant).

The bottle says it wont break down in water... i dunno
                Thanks Hib, you're great!
