i changed my oil 240 miles ago, then bought royal purple the other day, drained my oil, left the filter in, w/ oil in it i assume, and added the new oil,

is mixing royal purple w/ normal oil bad?

you changed your oil but not the filter?

i'd say you just wasted $40, or however much it is for royal purple...

I'd say yes. That filter holds [depending on size] between half and 3/4 of a quart of the old oil. You probably didn't hurt anything by mixing oils, but the principle of it seems kinda silly:
-you shelled out all this money to get a "boutique" oil and you didn't shell out another $3.50 to get a new, decent oil filter. It's so easy to change the filter on our cars...

filter holds half to 3/4 of your oil depending on size? what size is your filter.

jesus, i use the 4.3L S-10 filter, which is bigger, and ill bet it only holds like 1/5th of a quart.......

but still, change the filter at the same time.
