  • Multiple problems at once

    Now thats a good title.

Two weeks ago the seat belt shoulder guide just freaking broke off. No one hit it or snagged on it or anything someone pulled the seatbelt to buckle up and it just broke off.

On Monday my accelerator stuck down and the car was constantly revving at 2000rpm so I had to reach down and pull it back up.

On Tuesday my E-Brake made a huge CA-CLANK sound not very typical when pulling an E-brake yet I believe it is still working because I can't push the car. Ya just wait until I get on a hill and it fails.

On Tuesday it took me three tries to start it up.

And today I got stopped on a hill pretty steep and when I went to use the clutch while letting it out it god damn sticked and I ended up burning my clutch quite aways before I was able to unhook it. Like smoke was coming from the steering column and it smelled ****ing horrible and I still have a headache from the fumes. And you know i'm relatively new to driving stick and steep hills still make me nervous and I really didn't need the car ****ing up I just needed me ****ing up.

I also found out that the rear bumper is being held together with a less than adequate amount of bolts.

Its also getting increasingly difficult to get the car into reverse and when I do it sometimes makes a huge CLANK.

This car is in need of a major tune up its beginning to make my 82' look like a freaking angel.

    This sucks...

Is your floor mat or something causing your pedals to stick? If it happens again just turn the car off so you don't pummel your clutch.

When your ebrake made the noise did it suddenly get easier to pull up? They can pop off the gear it has happened to me a few times.

All of our cars can grind or be hard to get into reverse because there isn't a synchro. Put the car in 5th then down into reverse.

Don't know if any of that helped. Either way I feel your pain. Something is always breaking...

I didn't know the reverse doesn't have a synchro thanks for the info.

The floor mat isn't what caused it to stick I guess it may not be probably lubricated or something.

I can't really turn my car off on a two lane hill with 15 people behind me =).

I remember somewhere that there was a recall on 98-02 Firebird because something was improperly fit which didn't allow the clutch to disengage.

            Here it is http://www.automotive.com/1999/49/po...lls/47598.html
I'm going to go through the previous owners records to see if he had this corrected because he had always brought the car to the dealer.

Checked through all the records assuming my car is defective its never been fixed. I'll install a new clutch and see how that works out. I did learn to drive stick on this car and the clutch has never been changed, its at 46k right now.

              Re: Multiple problems at once

Reading your problems make me feel lucky...77,000 miles and the only thing I have bought is a battery at Walmart, Starter at dealer,
              new brakes (once) and tires.
              I have a 2K, 3.8 auto.
Say a prayer and put it on ebay.
