Ok, the TAC and the TPS are in the throttle body of my 1999, 3.8 liter Camaro - so, where is the Electronic Throttle Module? Anybody

the module is apart of the whole throttle body assembly. nothing is serviceable, replaced as a unit.

        Re: Electronic Throttle Module

The reason that I am asking, is because of a problem with my car which does indicate a possible problem with the throttle body, but I am not so sure. This problem gave me a lot of trouble for about two months before it finally broke down and wouldn't crank anymore. It started out being hard to crank, it would turn over fine, but would not crank right away. Then when it would crank, I got the SES light and “Reduced Engine Power”. I checked the code, and it was a P1518, which is:
DTC P1518 Electronic Throttle Module to PCM Communication or

DTC P1518 Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Serial Data Circuit (Alldata)

As it was running, of course it didn’t have enough power to drive right away, but I could use my code reader to reset the computer and turn off the SES light. Right before the light turned off, the engine would stumble, and then would suddenly stabilize and then run perfectly normal after the light turned off. At this point, I could drive it and it would run fine. I went through this routine for about 2 months before it finally quit working. There was a weird thing that happened during this time though. A couple of times while driving it, my JVC stereo in the car, would repeatedly turn on by itself (I don‘t keep it on all of the time like most people), like there was some kind of power surge or something. This happened on two separate occasions. On the first, it happened only a couple of times - the second, it happened about four times. I don’t know of anything that can cause a car stereo to turn on by itself, so that was a weird symptom. Now, as far as the code P1518 and Reduced Engine Power, I have been told that alternator and/or battery deficiency can cause this exact problem, because the throttle body requires a certain minimum voltage (don’t know what it is though). My battery is a Champion, 5 year battery that is less than 2 years old, and I had it checked four times, as well as the alternator, at the different auto parts stores in the area, and both checked good every time. So, at this point, about the only thing that has kept me from going ahead and replacing the throttle body, has been that weird symptom with the stereo turning on by itself, and of course the expense. Does anyone know how a throttle body malfunction could cause this thing with the stereo?

I’m new. I actually don’t own a Camaro or firebird. I do have a 2000 Camaro 3.8 fly by throttle and 4l60e. This is installed in a 1980 Triumph TR7...
