I have a 2000 firebird and im going to get it a mail order tune soon. So i want to get all the mods that i want for awhile put on before the tune. I need to know alittle about the 180* thermo. Will it work with my cars computer or will i need a sensor or something to get it to work? Also I've heard of them leaking has anyone had any problems?

I had a 160 and i live in ohio and i hated the 160 my heat in the winter was terrible so i put the stock temp back in but in the summer it was a nice cheap addition but im sure a 180 would be just right but i didnt want to risk it...
your car will be fine with a 180 thermo. Never heard of any leaking problems, install is easy 5-10 minute job and then make sure to bleed the air out of the system

How do you bleed the air out of the system? Also I've heard that a engine running hot acually makes more power unless your engine is knocking. So if this is true i should just stick with my stock thermo since my engines running ok now right? or not? sorry i've searched alot but still alittle confused
One more question will this thermo free up any HP or Torque or is it just to cool the throttle body more?
your engine is designed to run at around 200 or something to run the most efficient possible. putting in a lower temp thermostat will only delay getting up to operating temps buy circulating the coolant sooner. not what you want if you really think about it and especially in cold weather climate. we have a bleeder screw above the thermo to bleed the air. there is a process to it if you search. you will not really free up any hp or anything.
