    Hey all, I'm new to the board and had a question. I'm getting a tune up for my 94 V-6. I just went over 100,000 miles and want to check things out and make some improvements. I've been reading on here about spark plugs and other things to change at a tune up. Any suggestions on what I should have done and what kind of equipment I should use (ie. spark plugs, spark plug wires) and anything else. Also, I'm thinking of getting the transmission fluid changed but really know nothing about it. Is there anything particular to it and is it something I should do?
    Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

    About the trans fluid, don't change it yourself. Get it FLUSHED by a pro. When you just change it by draining the pan, your not getting all of the fluid out; there is still some lingering around in the trans and torque converter. Flushing gets all of the old trans fluid out [img]smile.gif[/img]

      Thanks, that's what I was planning on doing. I've heard it costs around $100 for this, do you know? And is there any special brand or better brand of fluid to use? And is there anything else to add with a transmission fluid change?

        Try this

        just substitute 3.4 whenever you see 2.8/3.1

            ok, just read tgru it & it doesn't mention engine size [img]graemlins/dunce.gif[/img] . It was origonally for those of us hav ing the 2.8/3.1 motors for the 3rd gens. Disregard the cap & rotor & follow everything else. not sure if 4th gens have a tv cable, but I don't think you do.

              Which spark plugs and spark plug wire are the best to get in a tune up?

                I'm gonna get rapid fires when the car is raring to go. I've heard not-good things about MSD boxes & platinum plugs. currently have Accel plug wires, but an good brand should work. min 8mm.

                For regular ignitions, also try rapid fires. My blazer has the Bosch +4s, and I think the GP has factory plugs.

                    I'm about to do a full tune up myself, here is my list so far:

                    Taylor 8mm Plug Wires
                    Oil Filter (The Larger one)
                    Air Filter
                    Fuel Filter
                    PCV Valve
                    Spark Plugs
                    Rear Axle Grease & Gasket


                    Check Tranny Fluid


                    I've also heard Plat. Plugs are no good for our engine. But, this is what it comes with stock according to my Chilton Manual, so who is right??
