Sounds like it might be a pulley or something.

When i first got my car it would rev to aboutr 2500 when starting it and whine. I replaced the belt and it stopped.
Don't know about your high idle tho...

you have the 3.4 right? There is a vaccum fitting right above/next to where it says 3.4 SFI on the intake manifold.

Check in that area and you will see some sort of T connection, this connection is for a vaccum and when this connection some how came loose in my car, the car would idle up at around 3.5-5k.

alternator whine mabey? also try shooting some WD40 into the hubs on your pullies if the whine stops I would say you have a bad bearing on that pully...

this ain't no whine from pullies i've heard that before, the first couple of times i turned the motor on when i barely dropped it, it had a idle of about 8-900 rpms now for some reason i turn it on and it immediately goes up to like 3500-4000 rpms and the whine is coming from the passenger side underneath the car, i thought the line to the throttle was stuck but it's not

the car did this b4 it even have suction from the vacuum, i know this cause the was no suction at first till i found out that the intake was not bolted down right

i've disconnected and reconnected the computer thinking it would reset it but no dice.

all vacuum fittings are on right thats what i thought it was too at first a loose fitting

vampyr, i think it maybe the alternator but i hear the sound coming loud from underneath the car
i'll check again though

hell i even took off the transmission thinking it was the flywheel nope :(

well i figured out what the high idle was throttle positon sensor had the throttle half open, i took off the tps then mounted it back on right, still can't find the whine though oh well

Wait for car to be dead cool...

pull the belt off and start it up for a few seconds and see if it whines still(remeber be weary your car will overheat pretty quickly)

this shocul narrow down if its a pulley or belt problem

funny thing is it was the alternator crapping out on me, i messed w/ the lower and upper intake a bit and it brought the idle down to 2k rpms then i left the key on the ignition turned as if i was gonna turned the car on, well i hear a funny *** hum wasn't the fuel pump cuz it kept going, hum kept coming from the alt. took it to go get checked and thats when i found out the bearing on it were crapping out and it wasn't making enough amps. new ones on but i still have a idle of about 1500 rpms dunno what the hell that is but i guess i'll give it some time to see if it goes away, thanks guys
