  • Help with idler pulley, serpentine belt

My idler pulley recently decided to break a chunk off of itself, and shred the serpentine belt in the process. My question is if anyone can give me some tips on how to change them. If not, then possibly point me toward a past thread?

I'm new here, so bear with me :)

....take the bolt out of the pullie....
I'm pretty sure that bolt is a left hand thread. Not like your typical bolts that are "Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosy".

Anyway, parts bought and problem fixed. Wayy easier that I thought it would be, like 15 minutes of work. Thanks for the help people.

yea easy fix, if someones local auto store doesn't have one, www.gvperformance.com sell them as well. Just for the future.

Good to hear you got it fixed though, it is a nice and easy 5 minute fix

Re: Help with idler pulley, serpentine belt

personally i would not get one from an auto parts store, i went to autozone and both of the ones they gave me had bad pully wobble. i didn't feel like destroying my gatorback so i am just gonna press in a new bearing. If you do get one from autozone, etc. chack for pully wobble after you put it on otherwise it may lead to another belt failiure.
