I put a 180 degree thermostat in my car in place of the original 195 and when I had the 195 in it seemed to always be right around the mark between 160 and what would be 210. Now when I drive it stays a little above the mark between 160 and what would be 210. But when I am in traffic or not moving as much is goes up closer to 210, which it didn't really do before unless i was sitting and not moving for awhile. My coolant is at the level it is supposed to be and its the color it is supposed to be. I figured the gauge would be at where it was with the stock thermostat if not a hair lower. I have been thinking about getting a JET chip or getting the PCM reprogrammed, and I know with the PCM reprogram they can reset when they fans come on, any opinons on which route would be better to go? I know the thermostat doesn't make a huge difference but I figured it would help my car run a little cooler. Thanks

Re: 180 Thermostat Question
i've heard a 180 thermostat actually slightly hinders performance in our cars, cuz they dont allow the motor to reach peak operation temps...do you have a leak in any of your radiator hoses, or maybe you didnt tighten everything back up good when u put the new stat in...check for drippin fluids and check each bolt u messed w/ for tightness

Re: 180 Thermostat Question
the thing is once it heats up, 180 or 195 are going to open wide up regardless and unless you are moving, its going to get up there, 210 is not too hot, dont worry about it, its summer, the thermostat is doing its job, you wont see it at 180 unless you are driving
