I am thinking what would be the best next mod would be and the maft+ looks good but do you really need autotap? I mean on old cars you just tune the timming and carb without computers. or is it different? also what would be better MAFT+ or 3.73 gears? right now I just have a catback. thanks.

Depends on how you look at it:
If you want to make runs down the track, and tweak settings until you get your best performance (i.e. keep increasing spark advance until your time worsens, then back off one setting), you may be able to do without an autotap-like scanner.
I personally wouldn't recommend it. Your going to spend a *lot* of time tweaking your car when you could do it several times faster (without the aid of a track) with a scanner.
Plus, it comes in *very* handy when diagnosing your car.
Take a look at obd-2.com, does everything autotap does for a lot less.
Also, an FYI about the MAFT+, be careful, it can induce a lot of wierd behavior in a car. Especially if your car's electrical system is not top-notch. Keep the bypass loop in the car with you at all times! (You will know what I'm talking about when you buy it).
I *highly* recommend soldering when you attack the spark advance wire (as opposed to crimping).2001 75th Anniversary V6 Pewter Firebird w/ Chrome Wheels, T-Tops, & Y87
Mods: Free Ram Air, !Silencer, Holley Filter, Full 3\" Hooker Catback, 3\" Cat
Best time: 15.095 at 90.00 MPH with a 2.127 60\'
