the box didnt fit exactly where i wanted it to, but it's still a decent price just for all the wires and stuff. heavy gauge wire that's like 20 feet long is not cheap.

Whats the advantage of moving the battery to the rear? and is it a hard swap?

I thought they did that for more room in the front, more weight in the back? Not sure for what tho, custom SC or nitros? Not sure at all... but sure would be nice to not have to run the wires for amps and such through the firewall!

To relocate weight... getting it off the nose and putting it over the rear axle. Nose definately lifts up a lot higher and much better traction to be had. It's a lot of work and there are a lot of little issues you have to work out.

I could never get the starter to crank right, it would always cick over 3-4 times before starting the car, so I moved the battery back to stock location, using the stock wires, bur left the relocation wires in place going to the rear so I can relocate to the back just for strip use.

I didn't want to have to buy a new starter and couldn' find my specific problem so that was my last resort.

You say that the case didn't fit perfectly, right? If you have a Optima Red Top battery, do you need the case? Are they not sealed? Thanks for any input!

NHRA Regulations say: (most tracks do enforece this)

The battery still has to be sealed inside a box; regardless if the battery is a wet or dry cell. If its a wet cell battery then you have to go a step farther and VENT the box outside the car.

They require the battery to be in a box for saftey reasons, in the unlikely event that the battery exploded do you want acid on your skin? Start a fire? etc.... You also have to have a kill switch located on the back of you car so that if a wreck does occur they can turn the car off / disconnect the battery from outside the car.

Yeah, but I won't be participating in any NHRA sponsored events anytime, or even, in the near future. All the local strips around here don't even check the car, at least for time trials.
