  • GHETTO MODS

here is some easy N.R.S. graduate mods that work and i have done.
    total cost: $9.76$
    total work time: 35 minutes
    use eye protection

used a pair of pliers and broke off stock fins under air lid, makes clean break, sawed off center fin on lid. reinstall.

20 ft. 8 awg wire (thhn only), 1 square D ground clip, (both available at home depot, 5$ for wore, 3.47 for ground terminal)

grounded throttle body, struts, chassis, EGR. ran nicely this looks great and is effective, reduced noise level in radio, mild redux in engine, faster, stronger start

works even better if u take a dremel to it afterwards and smooth it all out, AKA the homemade whisper lid

Did you get rid of the air baffles behind the air lid and use the home depot mod for the intake into the throttle body?

no to the baffles, im thinking of using some pvc, i just did the grounding stuff with home depot, im trying now to engineer a way to seal the baffle and just keep it, since paying for 2 of 3 cars and 2 kids gets expensive , i will try most anything to supe it up a bit, i raised my intake 1/2 inch with washers and it make a minimal difference , but there is more air now, as long as it looks good and not crappy

jsut get a 3 in to 3 in. pvc coupling $0.98 at home depot and grind the ridge out in the middle works great.

look into cig ;) 3 inch pvc doesn't add any HP.. no difference.. exhaust note might be different, but all-in-all it's all the same. Sometimes you can hear engine wooosh under the hood.

honestly I thought mine was worthwhile... not leaps and bounds but better then shaving my lid and putting a k&N in.

free ram air...160* thermo (not free, but cheap).

getting rid of the plastic piece in the middle of the airbox outlet isn't a good idea, i think. it's there to smooth out the air flowing in, isn't it?

The air silencer help air flow better?

Only reason its on there is to reduce engine noise. It restricts airflow.

If you don';t trust ghetto mods you can alwasy buy this.

But then again a piece of pvc will do the same thing.
