    Re: poly motor mounts

I wouldn't know about the AC compressor.. since I removed mine awhile ago. But if that's true, they'd have to drain it properly, then reassemble and fill it again.. properly. That might end up costing a lot. Shop around man. Honestly though, it's not that hard to get to for yourself. A few metrics, ratchet, sockets, and a couple of wrenches and i'm pretty sure that's all you'd need.

ya I havent decided if Im gunna do it yet, or if the shop will do it...compressor and all the lines are already all empty...and it will be being removed entirely...so I would just have them leave it off...I've been meaning to take it off myself, just havent had the time...

        Re: poly motor mounts

I would definitely go with the poly TA bushing at the trans. I put one in roughly 8 months back and it helped greatly, as well as it keeps the angle straight. When I removed the old rubber one, the arm was pressed up against the upper part, so much so that it appeared to cut through it. Since I'm putting the new motor and trans in, I've noticed that the poly hasn't changed shape at all in that time.

Well it's official...The new oil pan gasket and POLY motor mounts are going in, in the morning...if all goes well, stay tuned for an update/opinion on the poly (since it looks like I am gunna be the first to run em)...I hope I am not disappointed...

            Re: poly motor mounts

Good luck on the poly mounts, they should be too hard to swap. Well on a stock K and A srms it will take alittle longer along with the oil pan. On the passenger side the one bolt it is better to put it in the opposite way makes it alot better, either it was the bolt on the motor mount, A/C or A Arm can't remember. I know the mechanic had to loosen the A/C to get it out and reinstalled it the other way so it would be easier if I had to mess with it again, I wish I could remember. I know we did it on the rack & pinion bolts becuase the boots got in the way. Good luck anyways, let us know how the ride difference is, I know the GTP's like them.

              Re: poly motor mounts

well, the shop is doing the install...they got to pretty much almost take the mounts off in order to do the oil pan...Id do the pan myself on a weekend, but I have no means of lifting that motor, and I'm worried about being able to support it underneath with such small space...last thing I want is the motor slipping off and lying on my chest...if I had a engine lift it would be a different story....but I will be posting about ride difference, so stay tuned...

                Re: poly motor mounts

I just use a bottle jack and a block of wood under the oil pan to get the mounts off. Pan you can support the k member and trans and i think you'll be O.K. Good luck.

                    Re: poly motor mounts

so I got the car back yesterday...it was raining, and I had an idle problem because they accidentally bent the throttle cable plate while moving the engine around. But from what I could gather so far, it feels nice. The car vibrates when you are slowing down, and going at really low speeds...20-30km/h (12-18mph) but it doesn't seem that bad. Once you hit about 50-60km/h (30-37mph) the vibration is un-noticable. The car feels alot more responsive...the engine doesn't even move a mm in the engine bay. When I was on my way home it was raining so I couldn't get on it, but the car was loosing traction under 15-20% throttle...which it never did this before. This tells me the car is getting the power to the wheels alot better then before. (my engine really moved around in the engine bay before fwiw)

Now, the only thing is I am not sure if this extra response is a result of the mounts, or if it is a result of the throttle cable being very tight now, and the transmission downshift cable possibly not being calibrated 100%...we were guessing on where it should be after it was bent...I won't know if everything is back to normal until I am able to run some scans hopefully tommorrow...but this is my review this far.

                      Re: poly motor mounts

So I got to finally test the car out today and take some scans...The extra vibration is really only there at idle..800-1000 rpm range...after that you dont notice it. Car definetly feels more responsive...I floored the car doing about 20km/h (approx 13mph) and it literally sat there as the rpms flew to 6000...the car definetly looses traction easier.
The scan from hp tuners shows that my car is getting knock all over the place in almost every cell...Ive done several scans prior to this install, and I had absolutly NO knock ANYWHERE...so I'm thinking the vibration is possibly causing false knock? I have to look into this further...The car itself does not shake sideways like I was hoping it would...but I am pretty happy with the mounts...definetly worth the 50$ I think I paid for em...

It also got rid of this bogging I had when I was going about 60km/h (40mph) or so and the car would be in 4th gear, if I just eased on the pedal, the rpms would studder up and down as if the car was struggling...but this was only under light throttle, and at that specfic speed....the car no longer does this with the poly mounts.

I know LetZride is running them and has had no problems, too bad I bought a extra set of stock ones awhile back or I would of got the poly.

42$ each, you need two...look on summits site because irrc there is a right and a left...I dont believe they are the same, but I could be wrong...been a little bit now.

You'll feel alot more vibration for the first week or so, then they break in, now I don't notice it. I love em. Most of the girls that have been in my car always comment on the vibration with a big smile on there face, which is awesome...but I dont notice it lol.

Anyways, if I look over at the passenger seat I can see it shake a little, but like I said, I dont notice it. I love em. I'd buy em again, and I'd reccommend them.

I also have the poly trans mount.

FWIW, when the car starts up in the morning it is a really rough start (because its still cold out), everything in the car shakes including the steering wheel...that should tell you how stout the mounts are, but after about 20 seconds shes calm again (I need to look into why its doing this, its just started recently)

I would say if you can handle the trans mount without issue, you will most likely be fine with these mounts, if you cant handle the poly trans mount, don't even bother with these, because chances are you are too sensitive to vibration and you will probably hate these...

HAHAHAHAHA nice, i might have to pick up a set of these.

Did you ever find out if it was false knock or not?

with my poly trans mount, my car vibrates a lot, but not as bad as the 4th busted stock trans mount i had.

i only have 250 miles on it, so im still hoping it breaks in a bit more
