not sure if this belongs here, but how would i get two plastic pieces to join together, without adhesives? specifically, the airbox and a round piece of PVC or something like that. is there any way to melt it, or weld, or solder, etc. the two together?

you vould probably heat up a thin rod and melt the blatic a the seam. maybe -

2. the best tool i have found for this is an old fashon tourch heated leding iron.
you probably wont be abel to find one.

welding plastic together is very hard. One thing about plastic is when you start to melt it the plastic shrinks. You need a LOT of extra plastic on both ends to melt the two together. I have used metal rods like bent hangers to do this. Lay one plastic piece over the other and use the hot rod and touch both pieces of plastic at the same time. As soon as they both start to melt a little us a blunt object (like a spoon or flathead screwdriver) to press and mix the two melted pieces together. You might want to practice on something else before you try on the real thing. I would really suggest using JB Weld over melting plastic. Once plastic is heated to the melting point its not as strong as it once was and can crack.
Another way to do this is to take plastic shavings and use a torch lighter to melt the shavings over the two pieces. You also want to melt the two plastic pieces a little as well. JB quick weld.
~$4 at walmart in the automotive section(by the gas additives) and it IS the best cold weld around. Sets in about 5min.
We used that to join the metal part of my heater core to my plastic fittings in my computer.
As it says on the package that in Dallas the city of Dallas, TX used JB weld to fix a cracked Caterpillar engine block.

PVC glue. actually melts the plastics together, assuming you have an overlap and you are not going end to end.Comment
