After reading some of the posts already posted, here is my problem. I have a 2002 Firebird V6, 3800 engine. The other day i noticed the temp guage going a little over 210 degrees. I checked the coolant in the radiator and it was low. All together I put in a gallon of 50/50 mix in the radiator and the rest in the overflow tank after getting the air worked out. I noticed yesterday after the engine was cooled off, the radiator was a tad low. I have jacked the car up and ran it with the air wide open and ran it with the heat wide open but no leak to be found. I cannot find a leak. No coolant in oil and no white smoke. I have 115,000 miles on it (mostly highway, 46 miles one way to work). There is no loss of performance. I noticed in some of the posts already on here about an elbow that is some kind of bypass hose that goes from the intake to somewhere else at the front of the engine. Do I have this on my engine also? I did find just a smudge of coolant below where the top radiator hose connects to the engine. I wiped it off and have not found anymore. I do not know how long it took for the radiator to leak down but I think it is a slow leak. In addition, if it is an intake gasket leak, where does it normally leak at? Thanks!

Re: 2002 Firebird coolant leak
I had the same prob you do. It ended up being the intake. The car never leaked water it would just disappear. I finally put a pressure test on it and got some coolant to weep out of the intake but that wasnt until I was losing coolant more quickly. Never showed up in the exhaust or oil.
