I would like to thank you for the idea Blitz, my car makes a popping noice if I rev it high. Your solution is cheap and worth a try. Thanks for giving us all a heads up.

i doubt it, but i guess you never know what might work. I remember a while back when i put platinum plugs in my car (back when i didnt have full exhaust, just a flowmaster) and the popping went away. I had no idea why, and its back now that i have full exhaust, but I do know that it did go away, and i sure cant explain it.

Well Here are some ideas to consider about exhaust back fire.....As we change to bigger exhaust there is a lack of back pressure that will result. Ever run with with open headers and hit the throtle? major back fire and popping due to ZERO back pressure. now taking into the fact you are running more open exhaust and still running the same plugs. the plugs were designed based on factory specs of air, fuel, and ignition when you change any one of theses you change how other parts run. the PCM can only compensate so much before reflashing is involved. Either way when a fellow F-body post an idea or opinion its just that...no need to flame.

As for me. I get very minimal poping from the exhaust until I open the 3 inch cutout. then I get more.

An exhaust leak can allow oxygen into the exhaust system (usually during deceleration creating a vacuum) and help unburnt fuel to burn in the exhaust (which can cause a popping sound).

BlitzPuppet's idea may not work for everybody, but I'm sure it helps out those with leaks.

Also... if you don't have anything nice to say, it's best to keep your opinions offline or to yourself.

an exhaust backfire can be caused by many reasons:
1.Air Leak into manifold vacuum
2.Faulty air injection diverter valve
3.EXHAUST LEAK
And for all of you that are flaming me: I'm just trying to help people who are annoyed with an exhaust pop. Sure your's may not be the same as mine, but I DIDN'T SAY THAT. Don't flame me for helping, and this is just pissing me off to the fact that responses I get after trying to help people are flames. If you don't believe me, fine, but whatever I was just trying to help. Jesus Christ, some of you people need to grow up.

I have a poppy sound near my cutout. Ever since I had it mounted on the pipe before the muffler it's done that. Maybe I should give this tape thing a try with my cutout weld. Couldn't hurt. Don't bash it 'til you try it.
