  • How to hook up window switch w/o MSD DIS 4?!

Anybody here kow how to to do this? I was under the impressionthat the MSD window switch requires an output wire form the MSD DIS 4....

Any info would be great. Thanks!

Alright, here is some info on that. I used to run nitrous and wanted to get the MSD window switch put it. I talked to MSD and they said it should work with the car if they convert the switch to a 4v square wave ( from a 12v square wave ).

Here is what I went through. First, you will find out that there is no tach output from the PCM to the instrument cluster. If you have a Chilton's you can see on the wiring diagrams on pages 6-73 to 6-75 there is only a single output from the PCM to the cluster. This is hard to see, but a Helms manual confirms this. What is done on out cars is this: all the information needed for the int. cluster is fed to the PCM and multiplexed ( all put onto one wire ). It is sent to the cluster where there is a processor to demultiplex it. This means that there is no tach lead with a square wave to tap ( what the switch needs ).

Now, I never got a chance to try this, but in theory you should be able to pull a tach led from the back of the coil packs. If I read the diagrams right, it is a white wire. I know for a fact that there is more than one white wire back there, so you would have to test one with a multimeter ( have a friend rev the engine while you probe ). This is confirmed by page 6-74 in the Chilton's. If I still had nitrous I would do it, but I sold my kit and switch. In fact I sold it to Tiago ( If he is still around ). I tole him that I never got it working right and he wanted to try it some, I dont know how well he did.
