• Jet Placement and 5175 question

I finally got the 5175 kit (the box said 3.4, but the NOS website said it was for 93+). Anyway, I heard it was better to spray a dry kit as far upstream from the throttle body as possible. Should I spray into the tube part next to the throttlebody or drill into the side of the airbox like an LS1 kit?

I called the NOS tech line and asked about the kit being right for my car and they said it was, just want to be sure that everything will work right when I get it put on this week.

I first put mine near the throttle body, and the maf readings were going all over the place when I was spraying. After I moved it to the lid, it settled down a whole lot...

Yes, I believe the 5175 was first developed for the 3.4, it has diagrams of the 3.4 intake in the install manual... But it is the one we all use on the 3.8.

I have mine in the elbow directly in front of my throttle body, I know its been recommended against and you should put the jet as far away from the TB as possible, but I didn't want to drill my SLP Intake since I'm a pre 98!

I haven't had any problems with it their, but for best results you probably want it in the lid.

Dry kits, as far away from the TB as possible.

Wet kits, as close as possible to TB.

NOS 5175 is perfect for you.

Thanks, if everything works out right I'll be putting the kit on Sunday. So to get it as far away from the TB as possible, I'm assuming the side of the lid on the passengers side. I'm trying not to get my hopes up about spraying. I've heard from some that I probably won't feel the 85 shot. What kind of difference can I expect NA vs. sprayed?

Take a look in my sig.

            There are pic's.

This might give you some advice even though we have different intake set ups.

            If you can, get pictures.

As for guesses, I don't make them, sorry

Thats what TNT said as well. When i got my kit I called them directly and asked their advice on where to place my nozzles. Once they knew I had the SLP CAI for the 97 the guy suggested haveing them put in the hard rubber at the bottom of my air filters spraying up into the CAI. I asked about everyone who sprays into the throttle body he was like " Yeah everyone sprays there and you wonder why they all have problems? Thats why. "

              It works just fine.

Well, they are correct, best place on a 97 w/ slp cold air is right by the air filters

But, it will work in the elbowe

Well, some of my friends are going to help me put the kit in and we're all having problems finding a time to hook the kit up. we mounted the bottle in the passenger's side quarter panel and the bottle sits almost level...I may have to find something to bolt it down to that is level so the bottle sits at an angle. Would it be fine to leave it the way i have it?
