well I am going to take baby steps to getting down the track for a while so I am thinking of trying a dry kit. that was I can still use it when I go turbo. However I have heard that 3.4's do not like nitrous as well as 3.8. is that true? I currently have an intake and have headers, high flow cat, and the rumbler wating to go in after I get the car back from the shop. I am wondering how big a shot size I could use with those mods, and what other mods would help me out. and I will need a kit, which ones are good and come with all needed parts? gheesh, I have other questions but I cannot think of them at the moment, but I am sure you guys get enough questions that you can set me strait before I ask them lol

honestly the msd ignition and coil packs really won't do that much for you..but you'll definitely want some NGK TR6 plugs gapped at .035..and you definitely have the bolt-on mods to support running nitrous..i've seen James ask this very good question numerous times..so..here goes..are you prepared to throw a grenade at your engine?..if no..stop here..if yes..lets continue ..i do not know what the difference as far as spraying a 3.4 and a 3.8..James or Jerikko would probably be a good person to ask about that..as far as a kit..i would recommend NOS kit# 5175 hands down..i have happily run this kit on my car for several years now..it comes with a few safety devices such as the fuel pressure safety switch, WOT activation switch, and a blow down tube..which you'll need for the track..the only other things you'll definitely want are a nitrous psi gauge, and a bottle heater to keep that juice at 950 psi at least..personnaly i would start out with a 50 - 75 shot..see how your car likes juice..if they "play nice" together..as long as you take the proper precautions you SHOULD be ok..there are NO definites..i would suggest upgrading your pump for anything over a 75 shot..and if you plan on combining a dry kit with turbo you will eventually need to upgrade your injectors since both systems will be utilizing them for additional fuel..and of course..RESEARCH..read up on nitrous and its use..you will get more power..and safer power..if you know what you're doing 12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

if it blows it blows. thats a good excuse to go with a forged internal rebuild. what about a decient n/a / no2 cam? any options with that? not really worried about trying to use the stock cam componets so I am willing to go all out with it I guess.95 Firebird
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250
http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/

me on a good day------> linky

see that i wouldnt be able to answer..specifics of a 3.4..just because owning a 3.8 thats what i research..i know comp cams makes some good nitrous cams..but again..for 3.8 ..98Camaro3.8 would probably know..he knows a lot about cams so he would probably be able to answer questions about a 3.4 too..or Malice or Jerikko would probably know too..check out compcams.com in the mean time..see if they have anything 12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

What type of power are you looking for?
And as far as cams go, I am not really happy with any shelf cams that any company has. I have been playing with a couple really accurate desktop dyno programs and have played with their numbers. For the most part, the shelf cams are designed to put out hp at lower rpms. But if you build the engine to spin 7,000 (or more) you can generate 40hp+ depending on the cam.
Take my 3.4L for example, when I ran the 13.4, we figured that the engine was putting around 270hp to the wheels figuring in vehicle weight, etc. The desktop dyno program that I used to build that 3.4L was within 8hp (after the 20% drivetrain loss was removed) of the 270hp that we estimated. Then, I changed the intake/exhaust openings and closings and gained 65hp. The only thing was that the peak hp was over 6500 rpm. So if you don't want to wind the motor over 6,000, go with any shelf cam of your choosing. But if you want to spin these motors like they should be, you will need to get a custom grind. Personally, I like Crane cams and have been using them for *cough* decades *cough* and they can do custom grinds for the 60* engine. You will have to make sure that the cam has the tab for the cam sensor.
Forget the coil packs if you don't need them but the MSD Ignition is a good idea for nitrous setups. It promotes a better burn. The MSD uses multiple fire technology (or whatever its called). The MSD ignition has nothing to do with timing advance/retard.

well I am looking for something to hold me over until next fall/spring for the turbo.
ehh I meant willing to go all out with the cam and cam components. I will run the stock internals untill they blow but am willing to swap the cam. looking in the 50-75 shot range I guess, not to go all out like james or 1dangerousv6. I guess I am just bored right now and am looking for something to do. but not to build a motor able to rev to 7K 95 Firebird
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/673250
http://photobucket.com/albums/y217/andrewbrandon19/

me on a good day------> linky

Well.... a simple dry kit, nos kit 5175 60 hp jets will be fine.
We have all the safety devices listed in here... just do a quick search.
Do you have LSD yet? If no..... GET IT!
Nitrous = SH*T load of TQ!!! You need BOTH tires getting that power to the ground Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
